die Ruhe der Steine / the calmness of the stones

...it needs time. It's calm, relaxing but also tricky and challenging.
You need contemplation to paint stone and an accurate but soft observation.
My first attempts where not stony at all and these...well, I'm getting somewhere...
and it's joy to feel this calmness inside you...
it's a bit like being a part of the "being" stone while...hmm...at least paint it

Toll was du da gemacht hast Uschi.

Und was Du dazu sagst, passt haargenau, steingenau. Deine Ruhe spürt man beim Anschauen!

I like this idea of becoming 'part' of the stone - using its energy.

Uschi.
Yes, there is a "stillnes" in stones that I love and I am drawn to. I really like what you are doing here...it feels like it would be such a meditative practice, to do.

i had a friend in school who did this with such ease. i had no luck. but this is looking quite good. i was never sure why mine didn't work, i gave up too soon.
when you really look at stone there are things you just never realized were there.

Martine, danke fürs taggen...wie sagt man bloßauf deutsch.. "abklatschen"??

Julie, imagine HOW MUCH energy is stored in a stone...and which stories he could tell!

Jo, exactly! Mediative practice..be there, watch, follow the small lines, remove the "to much"...I love it!!

Jude, my difficulty is the constant switch between over-all-view and detail-view. I learn, while portraying anything, I so often have to let go of the original to look, if my portrait feels "right" or harmonious in itself.
How do you do this in your quilts??
